Agentless Monitoring Software
InterMapper can test many kinds of equipment in real time using a variety probes — software plug-ins that query a device to retrieve critical operational statistics.
There’s no need to install agents on the devices being tested. InterMapper has over 150 built-in probes that test the health and performance of various kinds of servers, routers, switches, UPSs, environmental monitors and other networked equipment. These probes provide vendor-neutral data gathering:
- Ping any device with an IP address. Variable length packets and editable packet data test for sensitivity for packet length and/or data patterns.
- View traffic on routers and switches.
- Use SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, or SNMPv3.
- Monitor applications such as mail, web, and servers/services from over 50 vendors.
- Test servers - Windows/NT services and WMI monitoring for servers.
- Host resource probe monitors CPU and disk activity as well as free space on drives.
- Device-specific probes for many wireless, environmental and UPS vendors.
- Aggregate a number of probes into a single icon as a “probe group”.
- Works with both IPv4 and IPv6 devices.
Agent-based Monitoring
Although InterMapper does not require that you install an agent on the equipment to be tested, you may already have tools or plug-ins that can test a particular device.
InterMapper will run pre-written Nagios™, Nagios NRPE and Big Brother™ plug-ins/scripts without modification.
Custom Probe Building Facilities
If the built-in probes do not address your needs, and if there’s no existing plug-in, it’s straightforward to create your own custom probes. There are powerful tools for building your own probes available.
