Installing and Configuring InterMapper Flows

InterMapper Flows is an add-on to InterMapper, and is a simple installation to an existing InterMapper system.

  • If you haven't already done so, download and install a current version of InterMapper 5.0 or newer. Use the Download Page to retrieve the InterMapper. You must install the InterMapper server before installing InterMapper Flows.
  • Download InterMapper Flows onto the same machine as your InterMapper server. It is also available from the Download Page.
  • Run the InterMapper Flows installer. The process of installing InterMapper Flows automatically configures InterMapper to talk with InterMapper Flows.
  • Be sure to remove any firewalls on the selected UDP ports for NetFlow (default is 2055).
  • Note: The InterMapper Flows service/daemon may not start up if another program is using port 2055 (or whatever port you have designated for netflow packets). You should stop/uninstall any other netflow packages on the system.
  • You must also configure one or more Netflow exporters to send data (Netflow v1, v5, or v9) to the InterMapper Flows server. See the Enabling NetFlow on Cisco Equipment tech note for details. InterMapper Flows will automatically detect the exporters and begin to save their data.
